Carl H. Lisman a graduate of Harvard Law School, devotes approximately half of his time to litigation and dispute resolution, with an emphasis on business and real estate matters, and the remainder of his time in business transactions and finance, and has been continuously listed in the Best Lawyers in America for more than 15 years.
His clients include business purchasers, sellers, managers and operators as well as local, regional, national and international lenders; real estate developers, construction contractors, community associations, construction and permanent lenders, mortgage brokers; and property managers. His practice encompasses the entirety of the State, and he is a frequent consultant to lawyers and serves as an expert witness.

Mr. Lisman served as an Adjunct Professor at Vermont Law School for 16 years, teaching third-year students. He has lectured extensively on commercial law and the Uniform Commercial Code, corporate governance issues, resort and real estate issues, common interest ownership (including condominium) law and other topics. He is planning chair for the ALI-ABA Consortium on Continuing Legal Education and a member of the faculty on Drafting Documents for Condominiums, Planned Communities and New Urbanism Projects, and a member of the faculty of the Resort Real Estate Program. Mr. Lisman has been a Commissioner on Uniform State Laws since 1976 and is the chair of the Vermont delegation.

He has served as Treasurer and a member of the Scope and Program Committee of the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws. As a Uniform Law Commissioner, he has been a member of a number of Committees responsible for the drafting of Uniform Laws on many topics, including the Uniform Condominium Act, the Uniform Planned Community Act, the Model Real Estate Cooperative Act, the Uniform Common Interest Ownership Act, the Revised Anatomical Gift Act, and the Securities Act. He is currently chairing the Committee to revise the Uniform Common Interest Ownership Act, and was the chair of the Committees for the Uniform Nonjudicial Foreclosure Act and the Uniform Unincorporated Nonprofit Associations Act.

Mr. Lisman was selected for membership in the American College of Real Estate Lawyers in 1983. He was elected to a three-year term on the College=s Board of Governors in 1993. He is a former chair of the College Committee on Common Interest Ownership. In addition, Mr. Lisman is co-chair of the Joint Editorial Board for Real Property Acts, sponsored by the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws, the American Bar Association Real Property Sections and American College of Real Estate Lawyers.

Mr. Lisman is serving his second term as Chair of the Board of Trustees at the University of Vermont. Following graduation from law school, Mr. Lisman was clerk for Honorable Sterry R. Waterman, United States Circuit Judge for the Second Circuit. He then was an associate with a major Wall Street firm before returning to Vermont. He has been an active member of the Vermont Bar Association, serving as a member of its Board of Managers.

His seminal article, A Ski Injury Liability, 43 Colorado Law Review 307 (1972) is a frequent reference for practitioners and judges. His article on anatomical gifts was published in Pediatric Brain Death and Organ/Tissue Retrieval (1989). A recent article on representing timeshare purchasers has been published by ALI-ABA. Mr. Lisman was a member of the Judicial Board of the State of Vermont from 1978 to 1986, serving as Chairman from 1983-1986. He has served as chairman on a number of civic organizations, including Chittenden County (Vermont) Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Baird Center for Children and Families, Inc., and the Vermont Foundation for Children and Families.

Allen D. Webster is a cum laude graduate of Cornell Law School and holds an MBA Degree from the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College.  A licensed certified public accountant, he also holds a LLM degree in taxation from Boston University School of Law.  Mr. Webster's practice includes corporate and commercial law with a focus on tax matters, including mergers, acquisitions and the sale of businesses.  He also advises clients on a broad range of tax related matters and represents clients before the Internal Revenue Service and the Tax Court.

A significant portion of his practice is devoted to sophisticated estate planning, including planning with the use of revocable and irrevocable trusts and partnerships.  He has lectured extensively on estate planning and tax matters throughout the State of Vermont.  Mr. Webster is a fellow at the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. He has been selected by his peers for inclusion in the 2003-2004, 2004-2005, and 2005-2006 editions of The Best Lawyers of America. He served as an officer of the American Association of Attorney Certified Public Accountants for five years and held the position of President in 2000. He is currently a director of the Association and also Trustee of the Attorney-CPA Foundation.

Mr. Webster is a member of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Section and Tax Section of the American Bar Association, and a member and past chairman of the Tax Section of the Vermont Bar Association. He is also active in the Vermont Society of Certified Public Accountants and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Webster is the author and co-author of a number of articles in the area of taxation and estate planning, including "The Limits of Collateral Estoppel Tax Court Litigation," 8 Boston University Journal of Tax Law 43 (1990); "Estate Planning for the Family with a Disabled Child," 14 Vermont Law Review 529 (1990); and "The Handicapped Child: Estate Planning and Government Assistance," 16 Vermont Bar Journal 13 (1990). Prior to joining Lisman, Webster & Leckerling, P.C., Mr. Webster worked for the international accounting firm of Price Waterhouse and served for two years as a Lieutenant in the United States Army.

E. William Leckerling, III is a graduate of Hobart College and Vermont Law School where he currently serves as a member of its Board of Trustees. He is certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy as a Civil Trial Advocacy Specialist. Prior to joining Lisman, Webster & Leckerling P.C.’s predecessor firm (Lisman and Lisman), Mr. Leckerling was associated with the medical malpractice law firm of Martin, Clearwater & Bell in New York, New York.  Since returning to Vermont in 1986, he has concentrated his practice on matters involving professional negligence including medical malpractice, wrongful death, brain injuries, cerebral palsy, products liability, personal injury and construction claims.  Mr. Leckerling has obtained numerous multimillion dollar recoveries for his clients including a 3.3 million dollar jury verdict in Bennington County, Vermont.  In addition to his trial and litigation experience, he has been repeatedly acknowledged in the publication SuperLawyers for his proficiency in employment law. His employment law experience includes advising employers and employees concerning employment policies and procedures and lecturing employer groups on employment law issues. His clients are mostly individuals although he has represented multiple Fortune 500 companies as well as small business owners and condominium associations. He served two terms as President of the Board of Trustees of the Howard Center for Human Services and was chair of the Personnel Committee for over five years. Mr. Leckerling is currently on the Board of Directors of the Vermont Family Network which serves children and adults who have special needs. He lives with his wife and three children in Charlotte, Vermont.

Douglas K. Riley is a graduate of Cornell Law School and Brown University, magna cum laude. He is a transactional lawyer with over twenty years' experience in commercial financing, intellectual property, business, real estate and environmental matters. He has been a guest lecturer on real estate and mortgage law at Vermont Law School and at numerous seminars for lawyers, bankers and accountants in New England.

Doug co-authored Estate Planning for the Family with a Disabled Child 14 Vermont Law Review 529, 1990 and The Handicapped Child: Estate Planning and Government Assistance, 16 the Vermont Bar Journal 13, 1990. He also co-authored an extensive revision of A Foreclosure and Repossession in Vermont, the standard reference manual on Vermont mortgage foreclosures.

Doug frequently represents business interests and conservation interests in land-use cases before administrative panels and courts. He is a past executive committee member, state chairman, and national delegate from Vermont of the Vermont Chapter of the Sierra Club. He was a member of the Citizen's Advisory Committee to the Chittenden Solid Waste District.

Doug's intellectual-property practice includes the representation of performers, authors and trademark owners. He has prosecuted numerous trademark registrations before the United States Patent Office. Doug was a member for two years of the staff of Green Linnet Records, a Connecticut based independent record producer, and maintains close ties to the music business. He is also a member of the Intellectual Property Section of the Vermont Bar Association.

Christina A. Jensen graduated from Smith College and the University of Wisconsin Law School. She is admitted to practice in the State of Vermont, U.S. District Court for the District of Vermont, and United States Court of Appeals Second Circuit. Ms. Jensen=s practice focuses on general civil litigation, employment law, immigration law, and civil appeals. Her immigration practice focuses on the visa process for employers and individuals. Ms. Jensen organized, moderated and presented seminars on employment law topics including at will employment in Vermont and sexual harassment, voir dire practice in the State of Vermont, and business related immigration issues. She is a member of the Vermont and Chittenden County Bar Associations, and the American Immigration Lawyers Association. She has served on the Board of the Chittenden County Bar Association since 2002. She served on the Board of Managers of the Vermont Bar Association from 1996 through 1999. She served on the Board of the Vermont Bar Association's Young Lawyers from 1995-1999, and as Chair of the Section. In addition, she served on the Board of Burlington Business and Professional Women from 1995 through 1997. She is also an active member of the United States Eventing Association, and is bilingual with French as her second language.

Richard W. Kozlowski is a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology where he received a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry. Rick is a 1983 cum laude graduate of Albany Law School where he served as managing editor of the Albany Law Review.  Rick began his legal career at Nixon, Hargrave, Devans & Doyle (now Nixon Peabody), a large law firm head quartered in Rochester, New York. There, he received training in the areas of individual and corporate taxation. Rick has been a partner for over fourteen years at Lisman & Webster, in Burlington, Vermont.  Prior to joining Lisman & Webster, he also worked in Boston for a firm specializing in tax and estate planning for individuals of high net worth.

Rick concentrates his practice in the areas of corporate transactions, estate planning, tax planning, business planning, and probate matters. He has over sixteen years of experience in these fields. He currently serves on the board of a local youth charity, and is a member of the Vermont Bar Association.

Adam P. Bergeron graduated from Union College (B.A., 2001) and the University of Oregon School of Law (J.D., 2007).  While in law school, Adam received training as a law clerk at Thorp, Purdy, Jewett, Urness & Wilkinson, P.C., a mid-sized law firm based in Springfield, Oregon.  He also received a Certificate in Business Law and was trained to serve as a mediator for small claims disputes in Lane County Circuit Court.  Adam’s practice focuses on general civil litigation and business law matters.  He was admitted to practice in Vermont in 2007.
